“HIV prevention, testing and education has fallen short. Education is mostly done at community events where HIV testing takes place. It is barely mentioned in the schools, media, at home or even among friends and students.”
-Michael A. Kehoe, CEO and director of HIV Prevention and Education CARES Outreach Services Inc.

CARES Outreach is participating in a Center for Disease Control directive called ‘High Impact Prevention’ (HIP) program. The program calls for increased attention and awareness in HIV and STD Prevention by establishing condom distribution sights throughout Sarasota County. In 2012, in collaboration with the Florida Department of Health, CARES Outreach started a campaign we call “C4P3” – Campaign for Prevention, in which we partner with area businesses, which act as distributors of free-latex and non-latex condoms and individual use silicon based lubrication packets, that their customers may help themselves to. The program is of no cost to the area business and a member of our all-volunteer staff is responsible for monthly check-in’s with all partner locations to ensure an adequate supply of contraceptives are on hand and if replenishment is required, then a shipment will be dropped off by one of our dedicated Community Ambassadors within 3 business days. Handouts and CARES Outreach Services, Inc. business cards are also left at each location to be provided to any individual who may benefit from having additional information as well as our direct lines of contact and office hours of operation. All business’ which elect to participate in our C4P3 program is given a Certificate of Appreciation signed by our Board of Directors for their support in reducing the barriers our community members may face in making healthier decisions for themselves and their loved ones.
